Game night ideas for adults: a 30-minute plan

For an easy game night, put one game on the TV and let everyone play from their phone, so nobody has to learn a box of rules. Start with something light, move to the games where you learn about each other, and end with something fast. Here's a 30-minute running order with Roomful's three free games.

The 30-minute running order

  1. Minute 0 to 2: set up. Open roomful.hatcherylake.com/host on the TV or a laptop. Everyone joins from their phone with the four-letter code and picks an animal.
  2. Minute 2 to 12: Read the Room, 8 rounds. A would-you-rather question, then everyone guesses how the room split. Gentle, and it gets people talking.
  3. Minute 12 to 22: Most Likely To, 8 rounds. Vote for who in the room fits each prompt. Better once people have warmed up.
  4. Minute 22 to 27: Quick Draw, 8 rounds. Wait for green, tap first. Loud and fast.
  5. Minute 27 to 30: play again. Press Play again, or hand the link to whoever is hosting next time.

What you need

  • A screen everyone can see: a smart TV with a browser, or a laptop, plugged into the TV or not.
  • A phone per player (2 to 12). Two people can share one.
  • Nothing else: no cards, no board, no sign-up.

For a bigger night

Put the phone games between longer board games, while people refill drinks. For Thanksgiving or December, choose the Holidays deck in the lobby.
