Party games to play on your phones, in the same room

Put the game on a TV or laptop that everyone can see, and have each person join from their own phone with a four-letter code. Nobody downloads an app: Roomful runs in the phone's browser, and a room of 2 to 12 can be playing in about a minute.

Why one shared screen beats everyone on their own app

Most "play with friends" phone games put each person on their own screen, so the room goes quiet. With one big screen, everyone sees the same question and the same reveal at the same moment, and the laughing happens out loud. The phones are just the buttons.

How joining works

  1. The host opens roomful.hatcherylake.com/host on the shared screen. It shows a four-letter code and a QR code.
  2. Each player opens roomful.hatcherylake.com/play on their phone, types the code or scans the QR code, and picks one of 12 animals.
  3. The host picks a game, a question deck and 5, 8 or 12 rounds, and presses Start.

Questions

Do all the phones need to be on the same Wi-Fi?

No. Any phone with an internet connection can join with the code, on Wi-Fi or cellular data.

What if someone's phone dies or the page reloads?

Open the join page again on the same phone and it rejoins the room.

Does anyone need to install anything?

No. The big screen and every phone just open roomful.hatcherylake.com in a browser.

How many people can play?

From 2 to 12 phones. It's best with 4 to 8 people in one room.

Is it free?

Yes. No account and no app to buy.
